Yard Waste Dumpster Rental

Clearing an overgrown lot or redoing the landscaping? A yard waste dumpster rental lets you haul it all in one week instead of a dozen trailer trips.

  • Veteran owned
  • 7-day rentals
  • Same-day on weekdays when available

Brush and branches: bulky but light

Limbs, shrubs, vines and brush take up a lot of room but don't weigh much for their size. That makes a dumpster for tree branches one of the few jobs where a bigger container pays off. The 20-yard roll-off at $455 handles a typical backyard clearing, and the 30-yard container at $550 with 3 tons included is a good fit for overgrown lots and fence lines.

Cut limbs to lengths that lie flat and alternate the direction of each layer. Brush piled loosely is mostly air, so stepping it down or cutting it smaller lets you fit far more before the 7-day rental ends.

Sod, soil and stumps change everything

Not all yard waste is light. Sod, topsoil, root balls and stumps carry a lot of dirt, and dirt is heavy. If you're stripping a lawn for new turf or digging out beds, think of it as a heavy-debris job rather than a brush removal dumpster.

For mostly sod or soil, the 10-yard at $375 is usually the safer choice, and it should never be filled to the top. Our concrete and dirt dumpster page explains how to load dense material safely. Anything over the included tonnage is $110 per ton, so it helps to keep heavy material and brush in separate rentals when the volume is large.

Flat-Rate Roll-Off Pricing

Delivery, pickup and disposal included. $35.00 fuel surcharge · $110.00/ton over the included weight · $25.00/day extra days · $100.00 per mattress. Full cost breakdown.

Old fencing, decks and garden structures

Wood privacy fence, chain-link, posts with concrete footers still attached, old raised beds, arbors and lattice can all go in. Concrete footers add weight fast, so knock off what you can or plan for it. Treated lumber is fine in the container.

If the project also includes an old shed, deck or swing set, our shed removal page covers when a crew teardown makes more sense than renting a box.

  • Cut posts and rails to lie flat
  • Roll chain-link fabric tightly before loading
  • Keep footer concrete to the bottom of the box
  • Leave out bagged fertilizer, pesticides and fuel cans

What stays out of a yard debris container

Gasoline, oil, lawn chemicals, pesticides and anything in liquid form can't be loaded. Lawn mowers and other small engines need fuel and oil drained first. Check our full list of what you can put in a dumpster before cleanup day so nothing gets left behind at pickup.

Seasonal cleanups from the Peninsula to Southside

Spring and fall are our busiest stretch for yard work. Long driveways and large lots in Suffolk, Isle of Wight County and southern Chesapeake often call for a 30-yard, while a yard debris dumpster in Virginia Beach tends to be a 20-yard tucked beside a ranch home in Bayside or Lynnhaven. Find local details on our Suffolk dumpster rental and York County pages.

We also serve Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton and Portsmouth. For storm-related cleanup, see our storm debris cleanup page. Call or text 757-250-7985 to book.

Questions We Hear Most

Can I put tree branches and brush in a dumpster?

Yes. Branches, limbs, shrubs, vines and leaves are all accepted. Cut long limbs so they lie flat and layer them to cut down on air pockets. Brush is light for its volume, so a 20-yard or 30-yard container is usually the best fit.

What size dumpster do I need for yard waste?

For brush and branches from a typical backyard, a 20-yard at $455 works well. Larger lot clearing fits the 30-yard at $550 with 3 tons included. If you're removing mostly sod or soil, choose a 10-yard at $375 because those materials are very heavy.

Can I put sod and dirt in a yard waste dumpster?

Yes, but treat it as heavy debris. Sod carries a lot of soil, so a container full of it can exceed the included tonnage quickly. Use the 10-yard, keep it well below the top rail, and call us if you're unsure how much you have.

Can I throw away an old wooden fence in a dumpster?

Yes. Fence boards, rails, posts and treated lumber are fine. Concrete footers attached to posts can go in too, but they add significant weight. Load them on the bottom and let us know about them when you book so we can help estimate tonnage.

Are tree stumps allowed in a dumpster?

Stumps are accepted, but they are heavy because of the root mass and soil attached. Knock off as much dirt as you can and spread them across the floor of the container. Several large stumps can push a load past the included tonnage.

How long can I keep a yard waste dumpster?

Every rental includes 7 days, which gives you a couple of weekends to work. If you need extra time, each additional day is $25. Call or text us when you're done and we will schedule pickup. Book a few days ahead during busy spring and fall weekends.
