What Is a Roll-Off?

Roll-Off Dumpsters Built for Big Jobs in Hampton Roads

A roll-off dumpster is an open-top, rectangular container delivered directly to your job site or driveway by a flatbed truck. The container rolls off the back — no crane, no fuss. When you're done, we roll it right back up and haul it away.

Unlike rear-load commercial dumpsters or small bags, roll-offs are designed to handle serious volume. Whether you're tearing out a kitchen, reroofing a home (construction dumpster rental), clearing out an estate (junk removal), or managing a commercial buildout in Hampton Roads — a roll-off is how pros get it done.

Common Questions

Roll-Off Dumpster Rental FAQs

What exactly is a roll-off dumpster and how is it delivered?

A roll-off dumpster is an open-top rectangular container. It arrives on a specialized truck that literally rolls the container off the back — no crane needed. We place it directly on your driveway, lot, or job site. When you're done, we roll it back onto the truck and haul it away.

How long do I get to keep the dumpster?

Every rental includes a 7-day period. If you need more time, extended rental is available at $25.00. Just give us a call before your window closes.

Do I need a permit to put a roll-off dumpster on my driveway?

For driveway placement on private property, permits are typically not required in Hampton Roads. If you need the dumpster placed on a public street or sidewalk, permit requirements vary by city. Call us — we'll advise based on your specific city (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, etc.) and can help you navigate the process.

Can I get a dumpster delivered the same day I call?

Yes — we offer same-day roll-off dumpster delivery throughout Hampton Roads, subject to availability, when you call before noon. It's one of the most common reasons people choose us over larger national providers. Call 757-250-7985 and we'll tell you right away what's available today.

What size dumpster do I need for my project?

As a quick guide: 10-yard for small cleanouts, concrete/dirt, and single-room renovations. 20-yard for most home renovations, roofing jobs, and estate cleanouts. 30-yard for large remodels, commercial projects, and major construction debris. When in doubt, call us — we've helped thousands of Hampton Roads homeowners and contractors pick the right size.

What happens if my load is heavier or I have special items?

We're upfront about all our fees. Weight overage is billed per ton at $110.00. If our driver cannot access the container due to blocked driveways, a dry run fee of $125.00 applies. A flat $35.00 fuel surcharge applies to every rental. Specialized items like mattresses ($100.00 each) and tires ($75.00 each) have small disposal fees. Extremely overloaded containers face an overweight penalty of $125.00. To see more details, check our pricing & FAQ page.

Do you offer dumpsters for contractors and commercial projects?

Absolutely. We work regularly with contractors, property managers, and commercial clients throughout Hampton Roads. Volume discounts are available for repeat rentals, and net-30 accounts are available for established contractors. Visit our commercial dumpster rental and construction dumpster rental pages for details.
